six

Our sweet little Sophie is six months old. This is incredibly hard to believe! She is truly an awesome baby. I tell people all the time that I'm afraid once I'm done with school she will decide I've had my time and become a super demanding baby. Either that or we are really in for it with the next baby that comes along, because we have have been so spoiled! Really, I just consider it a tender mercy. Heavenly Father decided to take compassion on us since our lives are pure madness currently.

I feel like she has changed a ton the past month or so. She sits up great by herself, has cut her bottom two teeth, and is trying pretty hard to push herself up onto all fours. And she has finally mastered eating baby food and rice cereal. This took some time. We definitely didn't use her binky to make her swallow nearly every bite...

So here are the girl's stats from the doc:

Height: 26 1/3" - 71%
Weight: 16 lbs 4 oz - 56%
Head: 17" - 71%

So she is getting a bit chubbier, which we love. Who can resist those cheeks???

Vent

Just going to vent for one minute about why I am awake at 1 AM. Have to register for my FINAL semester of college. Registration opened at midnight. I am just paranoid enough that I won't get the classes I need, so I stayed up this late to ensure I would get all of them. Jord called me a worry-wart. And here I am, still registering. Thank you UVU and the slowest running website of all time.

four

My girl is four months old. As any mom says, the time has flown. I think she is totally delightful, with the exception of eating...the girl does not like to eat! The circumstances must be perfect in order for her to eat well. As in not too hot or cold (her or the food), not to happy or sad, not too hungry, but also hungry enough. Half the time I feed her I have to bounce on a big stability ball...no it does not work my muscles, it hurts my back instead! I have almost thrown in the towel on nursing a number of times, but well, I happen to believe it is a great thing so in the morning I always try again for one more day. And then of course once she's fed she gives me a great big grin which causes me to feel like even though it was a fight, she is happy.

We went to her four month appointment today and here are the results:

Height: 25 inches - 76%
Weight: 13 lb 2 oz - 37%
Head: 16.5 inches - 75%

We got the go ahead to start cereal, so we gave that a whirl tonight and it went pretty well! I think she'll get the hang of it before too long, and hopefully she will eat solids better than she nurses!

On another note, I have returned to school. While this has been great for giving me a sense of productivity (instead of the many hours a day I was spending on Netflix over the summer...), it has definitely been tough. I hate leaving her, it brings me a lot more guilt than I anticipated. That being said, I have two semesters left and feel it's important to just get er done. To all of you who were smart enough to finish your degree before you had kids, well done! If I could go back, I sure would have done the same!

Jordan's job is as great as ever, and still a complete rollercoaster most of the time. He is starting to work as an independent contractor more, he definitely prefers working that way better. Happy Jord=happy family!

I realize this is a pretty long and boring post but I thought it would be good to catch up! The posting may be scarce in the future, due to our busy lives, but we are alive and well, which is really all I could hope for.

Plus, it is fall now, which is my absolute favorite time of year! Everything seems better in the fall.

And here is Sophie's latest trick.
Sorry, kinda long, but she's cute so it's worth it!

Happy 4th!

We enjoyed a pretty relaxed holiday with my family up in Kaysville. We got to see my nieces (Drew and Paige) play, The Wizard of Oz, they were both munchkins. They had some great costumes that Kelly made, but I didn't get pictures unfortunately. They were awesome little actresses though and we enjoyed watching them.

After the play we had a nice BBQ and just hung out. Part of the family went to watch fireworks, Jordan and my bro-in-law Scott went to a movie (shock), while Kelly, Ruby, Sophie and I watched the fireworks from Kelly's sidewalk. We actually had a decent view and it was nice not to have to fight the crowds. Overall it was a great day and we loved spending it with those we love! Enjoy the pics we snagged below. Yes there were a million of Sophie, I picked just a few :)

Sophie's Blessing

Our sweet girl was blessed on Sunday, June 26. We had lots of family and friends share the experience with us, and it was perfect. She was didn't cry and Jordan did a beautiful job. I selfishly held her through the rest of the sacrament meeting and didn't let anyone have a turn until we got home. I have been looking forward to this day for a long time, and I loved that everything went so well. I had several nightmares leading up to the day, including Jordan mysteriously disappearing and not caring that he was supposed to be doing the blessing. Of course, none of my bad dreams came true, he was awesome. We love this little girl to pieces and we're so glad she got her special day.

Family Time

June was such a crazy month for us! Family and friends in-and-out all month, which made it really fun. We got to go to Jordan's family reunion which was great, we loved that everyone got to meet Sophie, it was a great afternoon.

Baby Sophie is 6 weeks old today and gave me a great grin to celebrate!

So, since she is 6 weeks old I had my Dr. appt yesterday, everything looks great so I was cleared to exercise again, yay! SO I was eager to start this morning and decided to start small with some floor exercises, legs, abs, pushups, etc. Everyone said doing crunches for the first time might be a little depressing, it actually wasn't too bad. However, what was depressing was deciding since I felt so good I should go for a run around the neighborhood, just a quick 1 mile lap. Ha. THAT was where the reality check set in. I would like to blame my pathetic excuse of a 13:00 mile on the fact that it was much hotter outside than the last time I went running, and I was pushing a stroller. We'll chalk it up to that for now...in the meantime I've got some work to do!

Good thing I have such an adorable baby to distract me :)

2 Weeks Old

Just a little update! We went to Sophie's first Dr appointment (almost a week ago) and here were the results:

Height: 21 1/4" - 83%
Weight: 8 lbs 4 oz - 48%
Head: 14 1/2" - 71%

So she's definitely growing! We are getting more comfortable with this whole parenting thing every day and it gets easier every day too. We've enjoyed lots of visitors and we love it!

This is often how I find her sleeping, Jord hates it!

Sophie Michelle Hill

She is finally here! It's hard to believe for the most part.
Here I am just waiting...and waiting...and waiting...

My water started breaking at about 9:45 am on Tuesday the 17th. I didn't really think that's what was happening, since I imagined a huge gush of water, this was more like a slow leak every 10-15 minutes. I was at work and I just kept working thinking I was being paranoid. When it kept happening I got suspicious and called my mom, who told me to leave work and get to the hospital. So off I went. Jord met me at home and we were on our way. I was just praying that they wouldn't send us home!

Once at the hospital they confirmed that my water did break and hooked me up to everything. I was only dilated to a 2 so I figured I had a way's to go. By 6:00 pm when my doctor came to check on me, I was still only dilated to a 3, leaving me a little discouraged! So they hooked me up to some pitocin to get things moving. I started really feeling the contractions within about a half an hour, and ended up getting an epidural at about 8:00 pm, then I felt great!

They checked me again at 10:30 pm and I was still only dilated to a 5. I thought we were going to be there forever! They told me to try to get some sleep so I'd have energy when we had to deliver....easier said than done! Kinda hard to relax when you know you're about to have a baby.

The nurse checked me again at 11:30 pm and I had jumped to a 9 and by midnight I was a 10. Then I really started getting nervous! The doctor had me rest and descend for an hour so things would be a little easier. I had to push for about 25 minutes, and finally she arrived at 1:34 am on Wednesday the 18th. She weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 19.5 inches long. Bigger than everyone expected but we were happy she was nice and healthy.

I was SO relieved to have her here and to not have to worry about pushing anymore, it completely wore me out. I was so exhausted by this time that I just wanted to go to bed, which didn't happen until about 4 am so I was completely fried.

Our first family photo, yes, we are tired!

The doctor and nurse said we really had the perfect delivery. Things went very smoothly and we were all so pleased. The hospital was honestly kind of a blur, and when we prepared to leave I couldn't believe it was all really happening. Jordan was half convinced they wouldn't really let us leave! They assured us we'd be fine and of course we have been. We are definitely still adjusting but we love her so much and feel extremely blessed to have her in our lives. She is beautiful and we can't believe she's really ours!

Little feet

Ready to go home!

Forgive the long post and boring details, I just wanted to record it all while it was fresh. She is one week and one day old and I have yet to really go anywhere, we are complete hermits! I am just soaking up as much of her as possible.
